SRK Consulting, one of the world’s largest resources consulting groups (and contributor to Mining Prospectus), has opened a new practice in Hong Kong, its seventh in Asia and fiftieth around the globe.

The new office strategically positions SRK to take advantage of rapidly growing demand for resource consulting services in the region.

“Hong Kong was chosen to service both the Chinese and international finance sectors, Hong Kong listed companies and state owned enterprises” said Brian Middleton, director of the new company and vice chairman of the SRK Group, “and will complement our offices in China, Indonesia, Mongolia and Australia”.

The Hong Kong office will be led by Dr Gavin Chan, a senior consultant Geologist relocated to Hong Kong from Australia. His expertise lies in geological due diligence, project analysis and exploration targeting. The new office will be supplemented with local hires and supported by specialists from its sister offices.

“The establishment of the new office in Hong Kong will enable SRK to better serve our potential and existing clients and strengthen our relationship with the regulators," said Dr Chan. "With Hong Kong being a key global mining financial hub, its location on the doorstep of the world's most significant resource investment country, China, having a presence in Hong Kong has become increasingly important for resource consultancies," he added.
