As Sustainability Week 2019 fast approaches we’d like to remind all of you of the exciting speakers, panels and seminars we have on offer. Today we focus specifically on the Mining Seminar in partnership with the Council of Geoscience, for the full programme you can CLICK HERE.

When it comes to the environment and looking after what we have, there is possibly not a subject more discussed that the mining industry. There is no doubt that it has and continues to do immeasurable damage to our environment, but it also provides vast economic benefits across many countries.

Mining companies should also consider replenishing the local environment as often as possible, which will make the surrounding area habitable and able to return to a natural state once the mine has closed. Reducing both input and output of the mining process can also help to reduce the negative impact that mines have on the environment.

The Programme Director for the Mining Seminar will be CEO of Siyakha, Dionne Kerr.

The rest of the panelists include:

- Cllr Isak Pietersen, MMC Economic Development & Spacial Planning for City of Tshwane

- Refilwe Shelembe, Executive Manager-Geological Resources for the Council of Geoscience

- Babalwa Fatyi, Director, Myezo Environmental Management Services

- Dr. Henk Coetzee, Council for Geoscience
